STAND OPTIMIZATION SYSTEM
Overview
The Stand Optimization System (SOS) is a stand value optimizer and decision-support application.
Foresters and land managers can use SOS to consider and select from a virtually unlimited combination of silvicultural activities – including site preparation, nutrient amendments, prescribed burning, thinning and determination of final harvest age – to achieve their management objectives.
All these activities can be modeled on either cutover bare land or established pine stands, using existing stand level parameters.
