Forester's Desktop
Overview
The Forester's Desktop is a stand alone application which when coupled with Datamover becomes a powerful integrated GIS application (IFMS), specifically designed for the forestry industry, that incorporates spatial and tabular data into a seamless product.
With Forester's Desktop, foresters can easily manage information about -
- stand and tract attribute data
- silvicultural activities
- stand restrictions
- soils and PLS data
- and scalable inventory, either on diameter, product or stand levels
- to guide management decisions and improve long-range planning.
Forester's Desktop allows geographic edits to any layer and makes tasks such as splits, combines and boundary modifications easy by maintaining all related tabular data.
With Forester's Desktop, foresters can batch process maps and perform data queries as well as “what if” harvest analyses. Forester's Desktop also allows several formats of aerial photography to be used as backdrops for GIS layers.
Current forest management and certification requirements demand flexible planning and increased monitoring and reporting. Forester's Desktop provides the forester with the tools needed to meet these demands without increasing overhead costs.
